For more experienced runners, breaking the 50-minute barrier can be the next goal.

For instance, a generally fit and healthy woman might aim to finish between 50 to 70 minutes, while new runners might find themselves finishing closer to 70 to 90 minutes. However, this changes with age.

For example, if a 70-year-old male generally was to run a 55:22 to finish a 10k they would be considered an "advanced runner", while younger men (35 years) would need to run 41.16.
